Do I have to pay for medications and supplies?

Does a doctor know my medical case history before I arrive at the hospital?

Yes, our Medical Director as well as the admitting physician will have discussed your case before you arrive.

Will I be charged for my care?

No, all expenses during your hospitalization will be paid by MexCare.

Can I get the same medicine that I take now in the U.S.?

Your medicine will be determined by your physician who will direct your care.

Can you get me an escort to help me?

If necessary, we will send an escort with you to ensure you have a safe trip.

Can a family member go with me on the air ambulance?

Yes, your family member can accompany you free of charge.

What if I chose not to be transferred?

You have a choice. We will not transfer you unless you sign a transfer agreement.

Does my family member get room and board for free?

If you have a family member stay with you at the hospital, they will receive room and food for free.

Will you provide me with a wheelchair or other equipment I might require?

Yes, MexCare will purchase the necessary equipment you might need upon discharge from the hospital.

Will you provide psychiatric help if I need it?

Yes, we offer psychiatric care as needed.

Do I have a choice not to go to a network hospital but instead select a different hospital?

Yes, but we prefer to work with our network hospitals because we know the quality of the care.

Can I select a hospital in a city closer to my family to receive my care?

Every effort will be made to select a hospital as close to your family as possible.

Can a family member stay with me during my stay?

Yes, we encourage a family member to stay with you during your stay.

Will you get me to my home after I am discharged?

Transportation will be provided at no cost to the patient.

Will you teach my family how to care for me?

Yes, our goal is to teach the families how to provide you with assistance should you require it.

Can I get some help from a local nurse or doctor after discharge?

Our Case Manager will coordinate your care and will, if needed, ensure you have local support.

Will you take me with a vent?

Yes, we have facilities that will take patients on a vent.

How do you know I am getting the care I need?

Our Case Manager will visit you at the hospital to ensure you are receiving the care as promised.

How long will I stay at the hospital?

That is determined by our Medical Director and your doctor.

Who can I call If I have a problem?

You are assigned a Case Manager who is available via phone.

Will someone check on me after I go home?

Our Case Manager will call you after discharge to ensure you are receiving the care you need.

Will my family know I am being transferred?

Yes, we communicate with your family and keep them abreast of all developments.

Do you work with the consulate?

Yes, when appropriate.

If I have an attorney, will you work with them?

Yes, your case can continue even though you are back in your country.

Will I ever have to pay anyone back?

No, all services you receive from MexCare are covered by us.
